Hello WWOOFers, I am Thalia, and together with my husband Nikiforos, we are cultivating a vineyard on the beautiful island of Tinos. Since 2022, we have been dedicated establishing our organic plot of land using a blend of biodynamic and permaculture principles. Our philosophy is simple: we work in harmony with nature. By using traditional, low-intervention methods, we aim to foster a resilient ecosystem that produces healthy, happy plants. We believe that this respect for the land is directly reflected in the quality and taste of our grapes and the wine which we aspire to produce. We live in Tinos with our dog Daisy and our 3 cats, and we look forward to sharing our passion for sustainable viticulture with you! Spring is our most busy season, focused on guiding the vines' energy as they wake up. During this time our attention is on various tasks such as: - Disbudding: removing secondary shoots to direct the plant’s energy to the main fruit-bearing branches. - Tipping: Pruning the vine tips to control growth and balance. - Biodynamic Practices: Learning to observe and support the soil and plants through a low-intervention lens. - Starting a small vegetable garden for seasonal greens. - Additional tasks like enriching the soil, compost-making and various maintenance works. A typical day begins with the soft light of the beautiful sunrise and the rhythmic chime of goat bleats echoing across the land. After breakfast with local Tinian products, work begins in the vineyard while the air is fresh. Mid-morning, we pause for a coffee and some snacks under the shade. We wrap up our work in the afternoon and finish with a good meal. From there, the day is free to wander through villages, go for a swim, or simply rest in the stillness of the vineyard or the house. WWOOFers will stay at the vineyard, in a charming, traditional and fully equipped small house on the property, including internet access. In terms of food, we share our table and our love for local flavors with our volunteers. You can expect both vegetarian and meat dishes. Our hobbies include swimming, hiking, woodworking, electrical and electronic applications, cooking, travelling and philosophy.

This is my futile attempt to capture my stay at Landinos Vineyard. A Puttering Poem: Amongst the towering granite boulders And winding terraces organizing sandy soil Marching grapevines begin to bud And a modest stone house sits hidden The icy north wind slams the cottage Rhythmically like waves It holds strong and quiet as a reef below Here, i sit hidden too At the worn wooden table Feet chilled by the cool floor But cozy under dim lights Warmed by wholesome food in my belly Staring blankly but not in a daze Enthralled in thought; more a gaze. Tales of gods, stars, and ancient vibrations Send my mind into flight But the rest is aligning The feeling is light But still tuned for a fight Eager to rise with the sun And work on the earth, drenched in sweat And quietly watch as: Foris calculates & executes his next intention While With the touch of a velvet hand… Thalia loses herself tenderly pruning her vines And Daisy, we mustn’t forget Daisy, Trots and ducks and wiggles Searching every crack, nook, and tangle. Then we sit round again Sipping a potamisi nectar Steaming plates set before us Breathing stories to each other With Thalia, Daisy, and Foris. And because even that doesn't seem to be enough...a thought for each of you: Thalia Crouched in a sea of wildflowers. A gentle breath rises from out of sight. The soft sighs of complete contentment with her surroundings while she works. Like an airy spell being muttered. Steadily enshrouding and nourishing young buddin...
