Welcome to my farm! My name is George, I am 28 years old, and this is the second year that I have hosted volunteers in my home in a small village called Lyrkeia. After studying in France, I returned to Greece to take care of my olive farm that has been in my family for generations. I find it interesting to host volunteers because of the cultural exchange, and it is also more fun for me to do it with people around my age than with workers. This is a small eco-friendly project in a peaceful place surrounded by mountains. We have been producing organic extra virgin olive oil for many generations. I remember helping my father and grandfather 15 years ago, and now I try to continue this, but in my own way. The olive harvest happens in November, and some of my friends from France will also come for help and live the experience. The tasks are physical but also rewarding because of the scenery; we do everything as a team, with me included. You will also see the whole process, if interested, from picking the olives to turning them into olive oil. A typical day in the farm is to wake up around 7, eat a healthy breakfast with oranges from our garden, drink some coffee eat something then at 8 o'clock we get to go to the trees with my blue tractor, we work there, take some breaks to exchange, chill, eat and then when the day is finished we go back to our family home, to eat a traditional freshly cooked meal made by my mother and later on we do some activities together as football, basketball, darts, cards, biking etc We offer a place to stay in my family home with everything that you will need, in a small village of around 200 inhabitants. Three meals a day are also included in the offer, cooked by my mother, who is an excellent cook. In this experience, you will learn many things about Greek culture, like the food and the history. I like reading, chilling in a beautiful view, biking, hiking, exploring, I really like motorcycles and trips and snowboarding as well, I like outdoorsy stuff in general!

It was an amazing experience to help Georges harvest the olive trees for one month. Georges is really kind and good vibes so that there is a good team spirit. Time in the fields flies by and it was nice to enjoy rest during evening at home and to discover places nearby during days off (swimming in the sea mid-novembre was so great) And a special to Lydie who cooked delicious and various greek meals every day. I warmly recommand.
