Organic Olive Oil Production
Thessaly
Hello WWOOFers! My name is Nikos. I live with my son Stathis who speaks English in Mikro village in Pelion. We have olive crops and many kittens and a dog named Caramel.
We start in the morning with the coolness by eating breakfast for about 1 hour and later we go to the farms by car or on foot since they are close. All WWOOFERS can learn how to pick olives from the trees and rural life so that fresh oil comes out. In the afternoons we will sometimes go to the olive oil mill to leave the daily harvest.
In the morning we will have breakfast at home with oranges, jam and honey, eggs, toast, and fresh juice. At the farm we will always have breakfast, mainly sandwiches, and in the afternoon - evening different food every day such as meat, legumes, salad, etc. WWOOFers will be able to stay in accommodations equipped with a kitchen, internet, washing machine, and refrigerator.
Hobbies are music and having fun sometimes, also at home there will be our own tsipouro and wine of our own production. Also WWOOFers will be able to hike in the nearby village, or swim in the sea.

We loved our experience at Nikos’ place! ☀️We were four 25-year-old girls and we stayed for two weeks.
Nikos and his son Stathis welcomed us with open arms. We were very well accommodated, in a spacious and very clean apartment for all four of us, with everything available (kitchen, food, washing machine…). The location of the woofing is breathtaking (right by the sea).
Meals take place in the outdoor kitchen where Nikos cooked us delicious dinners that we all enjoyed together in a very friendly atmosphere. The olive work is very interesting; you get to see the whole process from picking to olive oil production. We really liked the fact that we changed olive fields, which allowed us to discover the area. The schedule is flexible and depends on the woofers’ preferences (talk about it with Nikos & Stathis). It was a very good first woofing experience, which made us want to do more and to come back to Mikro. Thank you to Nikos and Stathis ! 🤗🫒

At the time of the olive harvest, Mikro is devoid of tourists, apart from the occassional visitor on the empty beach. The fruit trees are full of bird song. The olives are harvested traditionally on the hillslope, so expect spectacular views over the vast expanse of the Aegean, which is only metres away from your living quarters, allowing for daily swims in the turquoise waters, both after work and during breaks
Accommodation is good; I had my own room and bathroom with a mini kitchen.
Sometimes meals are altogether and prepared by Nikos but sometimes its a free for all and you can make a meal from whatever is available in a large, semi open kitchen. As well as this you can always walk for 20 minutes along a coastal path to Platinias where there are two small supermarkets and an eatery , as it caters for the owners of yachts in its small harbour. Here I could get a few beers and food for my own breakfast in my room now and then.
I would recommend this place with its friendly family...English is understood. The host is farly new to WWOOFERS so I would recommend you negotiate days to work and hours at the outset as well as discussing the next day plans the night before. Sometimes, for example, Nikos might make a short drive to a nearby second olive grove, which will involve a longer day, involving taking food and drink so, if you went too, you might need to do a shorter day later in the week. I enjoyed my stay, I liked the physical challenges, the tranquility and the sea.
