Welcome to Samothraki, a very unique island in the Aegean Sea. It has been the seat of one of the main greek mysteryschools in ancient times, and many people are drawn to this power place for their own version of initiation.
We are originally from New Zealand (Rex) and Austria (Sabine) and have been travelling the globe for the last 10 years. When we first came to Samothraki a series of synchronicities happened, we fell in love with this island, bought a house and while we still travel a lot for work, Samothraki has become our base.
The name of our house is Chrysostomos, which means „golden word“ - and we treat it as a sanctuary for creativity and soul emergence. It is here to give nourishment for spirit, soul and body.
The property is situated directly on the beach, which allows for deep communion with the sea and its wisdom. You will enjoy having a swim in the morning or sitting and musing on the shore in the evening to watch the sun set on the horizon.
Pomegranate- and Olivetrees and some beautiful plane trees give shelter in the property. And we enjoy to grow flowers and a vegetable garden.
Last but not least we want to mention Munzi, our cat. He is the true master of the house and he loves to be talked or sung to.
People who have come to our place have described it as magical. There is a stone mandala for meditation if that interests you, a nice platform to dance if you like and then there are all the plant beings that we look after. It is an honor for us to be custodians of this land and we hope you will enjoy its beauty as much as we do.
Usually we start the day with a swim in the sea - (which is directly in front of the house!) That means you walk only 20 meters through our garden and there you are: on our beautiful beach. Afterwards we enjoy good breakfasts to get us ready for the activities of the day.
Rex loves the vegetable garden and Sabine the flowers around the property. So we attend to these areas as well as planting new trees. We prepare lunch and attend to some more chores around the house.
Towards the end of the day we watch the sunset from our beach, often make a fire to enjoy the atmosphere and make music, sing and talk. Or other times we go quiet, read and rest until the sound of the sea takes us to sleep.
Sabine loves to cook and take charge of preparing meals. Sometimes she'll ask WWWOOFers to give her a hand. We love good ingredients and savoury dishes from all over the world. Since we travel a lot we bring ideas for recipes and delicious spices with us to Samothraki, so that we can have culinary delights. So you will be eating well 3 times a day.
We have two beautiful bedrooms in our house available. Each has a double bed, (including sheets, towels etc ) as well as a writing desk and chair. These two rooms share a bathroom. Unless you are coming as a couple you will have one of these rooms to yourself.
We are part of an interesting network on the island and can can connect you to special people and powerful places on the island.
Since we travel a lot and have international friends come and stay our place is a melting pod of cultures, traditions, stories and delicious food.
We love music, mythology, ancient wisdom, the past and future mysteries, and we like to play and use our imagination. We enjoy to live in such a sanctuary for the soul which allows us to feel nature, listen to the earth and look at the stars at night.
Willkommen auf Samothraki, einer einzigartigen Insel in der Ägäis. Es war in der Antike der Sitz einer der wichtigsten griechischen Mysterienschulen, und viele Menschen fühlen sich in ihrer eigenen Weise zur Initiation an diesem Kraftort hingezogen.
Wir kommen ursprünglich aus Neuseeland (Rex) und Österreich (Sabine) und reisen seit 10 Jahren um die Welt. Als wir zum ersten Mal nach Samothraki kamen verliebten wir uns in diese Insel, kauften ein Haus und obwohl wir beruflich immer noch viel reisen, ist Samothraki zu unserer Basis geworden.
Der Name unseres Hauses ist Chrysostomos, was „goldenes Wort“ bedeutet – und wir betrachten es als Zufluchtsort für Kreativität und Seelenentfaltung. Es ist hier, um Geist, Seele und Körper zu nähren.
Das Anwesen liegt direkt am Strand, was eine tiefe Verbindung mit dem Meer und seiner Weisheit ermöglicht. Du wirst es genießen, morgens zu schwimmen oder abends am Ufer zu sitzen und zu sinnieren, und täglich den Sonnenuntergang am Horizont zu sehen.
Granatapfel- und Olivenbäume sowie einige schöne Platanen bieten Schutz auf dem Grundstück. Wir genießen es, Blumen und einen Gemüsegarten anzubauen.
Zu guter Letzt möchten wir Munzi, unseren Kater, erwähnen. Er ist der wahre Herr im Haus und liebt es, wenn Leute ihm Geschichten erzählen.
Menschen, die uns besuchen, beschreiben den Ort als magisch. Es gibt ein Steinmandala zum Meditieren, eine schöne Plattform zum Tanzen und dann sind da noch all die Pflanzenwesen, um die wir uns kümmern. Es ist uns eine Ehre, Hüter dieses Landes zu sein, und wir hoffen, dass Du seine Schönheit genauso genießen wirst wie wir.
Normalerweise beginnen wir den Tag mit einem Sprung ins Meer – (das sich direkt vor dem Haus befindet!) Das heißt, du musst nur 20 Meter durch unseren Garten laufen und schon bist du unserem wunderschönen Strand. Anschließend genießen wir ein gutes Frühstück, um uns auf die Aktivitäten des Tages vorzubereiten.
Rex liebt den Gemüsegarten und Sabine die Blumen rund um das Grundstück. Das Hauptaugenmerk liegt darauf Bäume zu pflanzen und den Garten zu versorgen. Wir bereiten das Mittagessen vor und kümmern uns um weitere Hausarbeiten.
Gegen Ende des Tages beobachten wir den Sonnenuntergang von unserem Strand aus, machen manchmal ein Feuer, um die Atmosphäre zu genießen, singen und reden, lesen und ruhen uns aus, bis uns das Rauschen des Meeres zum Schlafen bringt.
