"Arteis geuseis." This is the name of our family farm located in a mountainous village on the island of Ikaria. We also have a small agro-business, which means we can cultivate, harvest, and package whatever thrives in our garden. A variety of fruits, aromatic plants, and vegetables make up our estate. We respect the environment, protect natural resources, ensuring that future generations can live off agriculture. We cultivate naturally, using only organic fertilizers and manure from our animals, without the use of pesticides. A characteristic of our estate is the preservation and use of local and traditional seed varieties from Ikaria, as well as from all over Greece. The agro-business has been operating for 7 years and has managed to produce over 10 packaged products. "Arteis" farm is a member of the global Slow Food movement. We organize seminars on agricultural nutrition, botany, and more. We offer tours/walks on our farm, giving the experience and knowledge of "growing my own food." At the farm, we can accommodate 2 people in tents and "growing my own food." At the farm, we can accommodate 2 people in tents and provide 2 meals per day, a toilet, kitchen, and a shared dining area. Our usual daily work on the farm is 4 hours.

My stay at Arteis farm was honestly great and fullfilling. The farm is beautifully inserted in the ecosystem and for my stay I was able to immerse in a deep connection with the surrounding nature. Thanasis leaves you a lot of autonomy in organizing your daily time and it’s very welcoming in giving suggestions and contacts to explore the island. It’s been a great occasion to see Slow Food principles put in practice and have a fantastic base deeply rooted in a special place. The stars at night, a view on the sea at dawn at sunset, a cozy garden to live in the day. A farm true to the Ikarian spirit!

To say that I loved my stay in Arteis Farm would be quite an understatement; Thanasis is a very warm, welcoming man, and I'm very happy to have had the opportunity to live and work in his farm for a few weeks, in the middle of the magnificent island of Ikaria. I came in May, which means most of the tasks I (and the other wwooffers there) had to do were centered around weeding, digging and preparing the various fields for this year's sowings and plantings, which I found very interesting and gratifying. The work was always varied, purposeful and rewarding- plus you can start your shift whenever you want, wether you prefer the Sun or the Shade :) This trip was my very first time WWOOFing, and it couldn't have gone any better, it was a true learning experience. When the work was done, I usually ventured out to explore the many breathtaking natural landscapes of the Island, ranging from the sea to the mountains, or I just stayed at the farm and chilled which was also very nice 🐈 Thanasis I'd like to thank you and your family again for welcoming me, it's hard to explain just how important this trip has been for me. Like I said, I'll be back someday, but until then I hope everything stays ~fantastic~ for you 🙏

Had a great time, the place is beautiful and Thanasis is very flexible with the schedule and work. Accomodation was in a tent woth everything you can need; and we could cook the vegetables grown in the farm which was very nice. If you like calm and autonomy (the hosts don't live in the same place as where we sleep and work), I 100% recommand it!

Nice time on the farm, ευχαριστώ για όλα ! Thanasis and Eleutheria are good people, they listen to our needs, they like sharing things about their island, and I was free to organize the work as I wanted. The place is very pleasant, they take good care of it.
