A Living Experience in Pelion Homes Farm
Thessaly
Welcome to our garden and retreat center, a place where nature, creativity, and community come together! Nestled between lush forests, mountains, and the calming sea, our garden is more than just a place to grow food—it’s a space for learning, sharing, and living in harmony with the land.
About us:
We are primarily a business and a retreat center nestled in a beautiful apple and cherry orchard. We provide a beautiful space for groups of people from around the world to come to engage in yoga and wellness retreats. 2026 is the 6th year of our retreat center and we are hosting 22 retreats from April to November. We are building a small community of staff and volunteers that is based on the idea of sharing and caring. We believe in the joy of nourishing both body and soul—whether it’s through hands in the soil, sharing a homemade meal, moving to the rhythm of music, or flowing through a yoga session.
What we do:
We practice permaculture principles, MSV, and no-dig farming, focusing on regenerative agriculture, biodiversity protection, and sustainability. Our farm-to-table approach allows you to see the full journey of food—from sowing, planting, and designing to harvesting and processing—for the restaurant at the heart of our center. We run a fully active retreat center where we are opening our space to guests from all over the world to experience this land in a mindful and meaningful immersive experience.
Our diverse crops include:
Many fruit and nut trees such as cherry, apple, peach, apricot, plum, mulberry, hazelnut, chestnut, walnut as well as herbs, edible flowers and a big variety of vegetables.
We use composting and biodynamic fertilizers to enrich the soil and enhance resilience.
Beyond the fields, we value hands-on skills, natural building, upcycling, and low-tech solutions to create a self-sufficient environment.
What you can learn and do:
Every volunteer brings something unique, and we love learning from your experiences, skills, and hobbies! Whether you’re passionate about gardening, cooking, or creative arts, there’s a place for you here.
🌱 Gardening & farming: Work alongside a garden team sowing, transplanting, pruning, fertilizing, harvesting and experimenting with sustainable techniques.
🍽️ Kitchen & food processing: Experiment alongside experienced chefs, practice zero-waste cooking, bake bread, and try solar drying methods.
🔧 Retreat space & farm maintenance: Help with repairs, caring for the land, keeping the space clean and welcoming, and bringing in your own DIY ideas.
Community & activities:
Life here isn’t just about work—it’s about connection, creativity, and well-being. In your free time, you can join:
🎨 Art & music sessions
🧘 Yoga & meditation
🥾 Hikes in the (really) stunning surroundings
A typical day - what to expect:
🥬 Morning routines: first when you arrive you will take care of small daily tasks like watering the greenhouse, making sprouts or whatever else is needed.
🪧 Morning meeting: We will then gather to discuss the day’s tasks and ideas.
👐🏼 Hands-on activities—communicate with the team the tasks and then choose where your energy fits best!
🥗 We share a delicious, nourishing vegetarian/vegan lunch together.
🗺️ Afternoons are free for exploring, relaxing, or diving into personal projects.
😎 You will have two days off to completely enjoy and to rest, get some adventure, or create something new! The village is fairly remote but there is lots of nature to enjoy.
*Please note that volunteering includes ~25 hours of weekly help + shared community responsibilities.
Accommodation & living:
🏡 Volunteers stay in a rustic and charming stonehouse with a friendly, autonomous vibe about a 5 minute walk from the space. Breakfasts and dinners are prepared by you in the fully equipped house for the volunteers. We will provide the supplies. In summer, there’s also space for tents if we welcome extra hands.
If you’re looking for a place to learn, grow, exchange knowledge, and live with nature, we’d love to have you here! Every day is different, and every person brings something special to our farm.
Come be part of our journey—let’s cultivate, create, and celebrate together!

I had the most amazing time at Pelion homes! Cannot recommend this place enough, the whole team are so welcoming and inspiring, with incredible food by Donya and Bart, community yoga sessions (1-2 times a week) by Virginia and of course the garden run by Eleni. The garden work was varied and relaxed with good hard work if you like to push yourself. The volunteers house is cooling in hot temperatures and a traditional Pelion house with a lovely outside area and hammock. We took a lot of trips to the beaches, if you can drive (manual) you can ask to take the car for adventures if it’s free, which we did!!
Thank you Eleni and everyone at Pelion homes for the wonderful experience 💚💚💚 can’t wait to come back

Wwoofing at Pelion was such a wonderful experience. It’s a beautiful place in a beautiful area, with lovely people all around :)
We had a very well balanced workday, working under Elenis care was very pleasant, the garden is so lovely and the view from the farm is so stunning.
Donya & Bart’s are so lovely as well and their cooking was fantastic, the lunches were always so tasty and filling.
The house we stayed at was a few minutes down the hill and also very nice, and we were provided with plenty of food to cook breakfast & dinner.
We had some opportunities to take the car with Eleni and go to the beach on the weekends and sometimes after work - the beaches are so beautiful, and April/May was perfect time of year to be there (also cherry blossom season!), and I also luckily had the opportunity to join a yoga class with Virgina who is a wonderful teacher.
I really treasure the time i spent here and hope i’ll find my way back sometime :)

Trying to come up with the words to sum up this beautiful space is a hard task. The month I spent here was so wonderful. My first WWOOF, my first solo travel, my first time in Greece/Europe, and I felt so welcomed. Everyone there greeted me with open arms (literally), and kept me safe and happy. The food (miss it and the chefs so much) was absolutely perfect. I always felt stuffed to the brim and so content every lunch. The work in the garden felt so fulfilling, especially watching the little seedlings and plants grow. The land itself is absolutely magical so many beautiful hidden spots. I’ll miss all my little animal friends - cats, dogs, donkey, goats, bees, lizards, snails, worms, birds, not centipedes. Thank you Eleni for looking after me and being amazing, and for the awesome beach days, and thank you Pelion for an awesome first experience, I will never forget.

I really enjoyed the 3 weeks I spent at the pelion homes! Eleni was coordinating volunteers and organising the garden whilst I was there. She was amazing, really lovely company and always made sure the work was interesting and fair. Virginia and natasha are incredible cooks, I will be dreaming of the stifado and the turmeric and cardamom cake for the rest of my life! All the staff were kind and welcoming, and had some lovely insightful chats about life. The end of harvest party was also a real highlight.

I had three really nice weeks at Pelion Homes. The mountains kiss the sea and the region is so beautiful and perfect for hikes. We lived in a charming house, got amazing food by lovely Virginia and Natasha. The work in the garden was varied and interesting. In the wwoofing text it sounds a bit more like a community experience than it was, but it was communicated that this is due to a stressful periode with a lot of retreats, so it might be different at other times. Anyway - I would definitely recommend to go there!

Executive summary: Highly reccommended, very good food, super fun team, excellent learning opportunities for organic farming, incredible views and hikes, a little isolated if you don't have access to a car (for me that I come from Mexico City and was not used to the village life style), a little old but comfortable accommodation, the yoga activities are a separate part of Pelion Homes' business so don't expect to participate in the retreat activities.
1. Work. Varied, never boring, one learns a lot about from the seeding stage all the way to the processing stage. Clem, the garden director, is very relaxed, fun, open to share her knowledge and concerned for the volunteer's well being.
2. Food. Lunch is done at the farm by the retreat staff. Lunch was AMAZING, Virginia, Natasha and Eleni all cook very good. You share a weekly grocery list with the staff to get everything for your breakfasts and dinners, which you prepare on your own in the house kitchen.
3. Team. Amazing team and staff. Good energy and always willing to help if you have an idea you want to carry out.
4. Location. Little and pretty village in the mountains. It has amazing views and a lot of hikes nearby. If you have a car you can go to a lot of beaches and towns 30-60 min away. The farm has a car that you can borrow if no one else is going to use it. There is no store in town so use the grocery list wisely.
5. Misc. It was difficult for them to make yoga activities for the volunteers.
