Hello, we rent a beautiful place in a little village on Syros island, where we do organic agriculture. The farm is 15.000 sqm and has around 500 trees (oranges, mandarines, and lemons) and around 5.000 sqm for cultivating seasonal organic vegetables. There is also a big wall full of capers. We try to make our little plants, with organic seeds that we collect from around the country and from our plantations. Finally, we have an open market every Saturday inside the farm, where we sell our bio fruits and vegetables straight to our clients. Every Wednesday we deliver upon request our products to the town (Hermoupolis). During the year we organize some little fiestas, bazaars, and music, or theater events. We will be pleased to host 1-2 WWOOFers for the summer period, sharing our experience, methods, and culture and having extra help in collecting capers and vegetables. As the farm has a little house with a kitchen and toilet (there is no bedroom in it) we can only offer a tent for sleeping under the trees in the period May - October. During summer we are on the farm early in the morning and a few hours in the afternoon depending on the heat. Usually, we collect capers and vegetables 7-12 in the morning and then 6-8 in the afternoon (not every afternoon and not every day, depending on the crop and the demand). We also help the vegetables to grow and stay healthy, by digging or cleaning from the weeds. We can provide our hosts with vegetables from our garden and all the goods they need for breakfast, meals, and dinner. Hosts are responsible for cooking them. We would love to share our meals and we'll try to do it as often as possible, as we have family and a house not far from the farm. I'm sure you can enjoy your stay on our farm. The nearby village is very beautiful and during the summertime, there are concerts and festivals around the island. You can hike inside and outside the village or swim in the sea (10 mins by car, 30 on foot). There is a restaurant with a nice view in the village, but no further facilities. The island is not big, so you can explore it easily and we can sometimes drive you or suggest to you many nice places to visit. Hitchhiking is safe here. The town (Hermoupolis) is just 15 mins away by car or you can walk for 20’ to Vari and get a bus from there to Hermoupolis. If you can rent a motorbike, it will be very handy for you.

We spent about a week on Viveta's beautiful farm and wish our time could have been much longer! We learned so much about organic farming practices through the process of planting seedlings and protecting them with wool; our days were spent tending to her plants and chickens and exploring her property as well as the island beyond. We came during an unusually rainy period and experienced some difficulties with the shower and mosquitoes, but Viveta was very flexible and helpful in navigating these problems as they came up. In addition to the work on the farm, Viveta made us feel so included in her wonderful community on Syros during her first Saturday market of the season. There was music, dancing, delicious food and so much joy. She is such a kind and patient host and taught us so much. We had a truly lovely time here and hope to come back again! :)

Vivetas farm is a charming little farm, in very beautiful Syros! We stayed in the beggining of September for two weeks and had an amazing time. Usually we worked in the morning for about 4h and on rare occasisions needed to work in the evening. Work wasn't too difficult and it was nice and varied. Tasks included were: taking care of the chicken, clearing the fields/orchards from bamboo, branches and weeds, collecting vines and olives and preparing a vegetable field for planting. Besides work, we had plenty of free time, which alowed us to explore a lot of Syros and especially the beaches. Viveta is a very welcoming and nice and host and we enjoyed the experience of wwoofing at her farm.

My stay at Viveta's farm was a very nice 5 weeks experience during June and July. Viveta is very kind and benevolent, and she's always full of energy, doing a lot of things at the same time! She gives a good vibe for working. The place is full of lemon, mandarin and orange trees and there also some crops of vegetables and a wall full of caper trees. So the main activities were watering, weeding, harvesting, feeding the chickens and the cute little cat. I also cut a lot of bamboos, prune the trees, cut the grass and took place in other diverse works. The warm temperatures did not help but we got the habit to start working between 6 and 7 as it's hot during the day. I used to work around 5 hours per day, 6 days per week, but sometimes less especially when it's really warm. The accommodation is in a tent under the trees. It's not as comfortable as a real bed but it's very nice, quiet and simple. The food was provided with some of local producers and vegetables from the garden. The water for the sink is from the tank on the roof that you need to fill in every three days with the underground pump. For drinking you fill 10L cans from the "water ATM". I used to see viveta's friends or neighbours passing by sometimes to drink a coffee or to discuss a bit. But usually it's very calm. After work you got time to rest, enjoy the shadow under the trees, go to swim in the see, but you need a vehicle or you can hitchhike.

I want to thank Hippolyte for all his help and his nice behavior. He stayed for a longer period than usual in the farm and he was always positive, calm and very helpful. I could trusted him to take care of the farm, when I had to leave for a few days. It was very reliable that he had his car and he was very independent. Hippolyte keep that smile and all the best for you.

My visit at Viveta's farm was a great experience. Work load wasn't too big and the tasks were varied - in the orchard and vegetable garden. The accommodation was simple but comfortable and the food provided was excellent. Viveta is a kind and generous person and will make you feel at home. She also made an effort to show me around and include me into the island's life. Recommended

Ich habe einen Aufenthalt von 14 Tagen geplant, bin allerdings früher wieder abgereist aus persönlichen Gründen. Viveta und ihre Familie sind sehr nett und ich bedanke mich für die Gastfreundschaft.
