Organic farm in Eastern Crete
Crete
Hello and thanks for your interest in our farm. The farm has olive trees- carob trees and aromatic plants. Need most help during the carob picking season (end of August -beginning of September) and the olive picking season (beginning end October)and after crooming the trees and prepare the farm for the next seazon.
Also, need help at a small cottage workshop where we put the products of the farm into a vase or bottles for the market.
The plan is to be a bio-diverse agriculture site, based on permaculture principles.
The land is near to the village 500m and to the sea 4km. The idea is to share this place with others to see and help from inside all the line from the field to the market for the products, to get involved in rural activities, to taste local products and traditional cuisine, and to get to know locals’ everyday life.
Accommodation type:
Communal accommodation in a room inside the house-farm. There is also a place if you have your own caravan or a tent.

I stayed at Iannis farm for more than 3 weeks and had an awesome time. The first two werks, I was alone. The last 19 day we where 5 wwoofers.
The work is very varied. Most of the time you work with the olive trees (fertilising, pruning,...). In bad weather, you work in the factory (if necessary) or have a day off. Everything is done calmly and without hectic. Iannis helped me with my problems (dog sick, van broken) and let me stay with him even longer. We had many fun evenings in front of the fireplace, playing backgammon or in the tavern. Even though we didn't agree on many topics, we were able to laugh it off and deal with each other normally. Iannis can be very energetic and talk loudly. You have to be able to deal with that. As a host he is really great and you can and should feel at home with him. If you have problems with smoking inside the house, maybe its not for you. He trust his wwoofers and let them work independent, if possible. If you are unlucky with the weather and have a lot of cloudy days, it can happen, that there is no hot water for shower, since it comes from solar-system, like at most places in Crete/Greece.
I definitely recommend supporting Iannis on his farm and staying with him.
