My husband and I have been living in Rhodes since 2009. My husband is from here and I am French and Swiss. We have four children born from 2000 to 2008. We love our property, which is on a hill, with sea view, not far from the beach. We like animals, that is why we have dogs, cats, donkeys, two sheeps, chickens, ducks, and many butterflies and bees. We have a piece of land where we grow fruit trees and a small garden. We make our olives and olive oil, as we have about 125 olive trees. Both my husband and I have studied tourism, and we like to welcome guests and exchange in an international atmosphere. We speak both 6 languages, and we like to learn from other cultures. We live 30 minutes walking from the sea. Bicycles are available. There is also a bus stop 20 minutes walking, to Rhodes town and to Lindos.
Organic methods: We use the dung of the horse and donkeys to fertilize our trees and flowers, and some paint made with natural cooper and limestone to protect our olives trees, also a mix of sweet drinks and theramon in bottles to catch the insects that harm the olives.
Certifications: We did not register as official private business, that is why we are not certified.
Type of work: Our current project is doing essential oils with the herbs we have in our garden, making preserves with the olives, and fruits. We rebuild the chicken coop. We clean the garden and paint where it needs to be painted. We also prepare some skin creams (with our olive oil, bee wax and essential oils.), and soaps.

I am so grateful for my experience at Olive Tree Farm with Emma and Michalis - they are such warm and welcoming hosts who really know how to make you feel at home.
Over the three weeks spent with them I learned far more than I expected I would. Tasks included cleaning out the donkey pen, feeding the chickens, making essential oils - from harvesting to extraction! - and of course, harvesting olives and taking them straight to the press! Spending every morning out in nature is something I will endeavour to continue to do in my everyday life, it truly is so good for the soul.
It was wonderful meeting other WWOOFers and friends of the family - sharing meals, brilliant conversation - thank you for such a beautiful time, I will be cherishing this experience for a long long time.

I really enjoyed my time at Olive tree farm Rhodes. Emmanuelle and Michalis were super friendly, great hosts and very inspiring people. Their property is absolutely beautiful- a lovely garden with sea view. Harvesting the olives was such an interesting experience and the other tasks like making essential oil, trimming bushes, taking care of the animals were very enriching. What made the stay so special was the cultural exchange: trying Greek food, getting to know the other volunteers/ friends of the family and exploring the island. We became a great team and it was so much fun to work together. All in all, I definitely recommend staying there.

We just returned from 2 weeks working with Emma and Michalis on their family farm and cannot recommend it enough. We spent our days helping with the olive harvest, tending to the donkeys/chickens/sheep, doing yard work, and helping Emma with essential oils. The farm is perched on top of a hill overlooking the sea and it really is idyllic. The work was very reasonable and Emma was always clear about what was expected of us.
It was amazing to meet some family friends and spend time with other WWOOFers. We ate all meals together and there was a strong sense of community from the start. Emma has a knack for bringing people together from all walks of life and making them feel welcome and comfortable. It is truly admirable. We shared many laughs and learned so much. It was a beautiful and fulfilling experience - all thanks to Emma and Michalis. We hope to see you both again down the road.

Emma and her family are the most welcoming people I have ever met. They are incredibly generous, but also interesting and funny people, with a lot of stories and ideas they are keen to share, not to mention they are also very good at listening.
I had the chance to stay in their daughter’s room in their own house (they had of course cleaned her personal belongings away). The room was huge, with a big bed, my own wardrobe and desk, and a sea view!! I was so surprised to have such a space just for me. And the rest of the house was just as comfortable: the modern bathrooms, the huge kitchen, the quick wifi! I really wouldn’t have expected such a level of comfort and privacy.
The life and work at the farm were also amazing. We did all the different tasks Emma had listed on her WWOOF-host page. I had no previous experience and she was always patient when explaining everything. She trusted us to work with autonomy, choose our rhythm, etc. And then we would have amazing meals together. I learned a lot and I was happy to see the results of my work; but also, I really enjoyed this pace of living and the atmosphere of trust and kindness. (Not to mention that the location - the island and the farm - is truly amazing)
Those are only a few words but I hope they can show how thankful I am to Emma and her family for welcoming me to their farm. I thank also the other amazing volunteers who made my experience even more incredible. I wish you all the best for the future! :)
