Farm
Central Macedonia
We are Martha and Dimitris and we live in a small village named Neokessaria Pierias. The village is lying on the feet of Pieria mt and is less than 20 km from mountain Olympus. We are focusing on vegetable growing for our CSA model. We are processing a lot of food for the winter and we have developed a small community with other farmers for exchanging food.
We need 1-2 people during May to October for at least a month stay, to help us maintain the garden clean, help at the harvest day and the packaging. We will teach, anyone who is interested in working with us, anything you need to know so they can help us properly.
Deeper in the summer we will teach people how to preserve some of the food we produce. Difinitely we will experiment a lot with food preserving methods.
Organic methods: Our farm is a regenerative farm using no dig methods. We are using lots of flowers to control pests and adding some EM technology in our farming
Certifications: We are not using any protecting method other than the ones that the organic farming is suggesting but we haven't taken the certification
Type of work: We produce lots of tomatoes witch we convert into sundried tomatoes and some beetroot paste and other fresh produce. Also growing jalapenos for canning.
We are slowly converting the land into a no dig garden so we are applying a lot of organic matter to the soil .
Chickens is the project we want to add to our system this year. We also will be moving into a new home which will be into the project as there are many things we want to do. Like a prossecing room, a wash pack station etc
Come enjoy the view of Olympus under the shade of our vine.

I had an amazing experience staying there.
Martha, Dimitri, and the children were very welcoming, and I felt good in their family atmosphere.
They shared valuable knowledge with me, and I learned a lot during my stay.
It was a human and enriching experience that I will not forget.
I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a genuine connection.

My time with Dimitris and his family was nothing short of magical. From the moment I walked through their doors, I felt like part of the family. I learned a great deal about farming throughout the experience and was able to be a part of everything from planting to weeding to harvesting and also participate in some building projects. Dimitris is constantly thinking about how to improve his work and often asked for my opinions about his latest plans.
Outside of working hours - usually early in the morning to the late morning - the family encouraged exploration of the area and it's relatively easy to get around using the Katerini-area bus system.
On the home front, prospective WWOOFers should be aware that the accommodations can be challenging at first as not all of the windows and doors close, but Dimitris is working on improving this. That said, Martha's cooking was consistently so so tasty and playing with the two kids and the two dogs was always incredibly fun and rewarding. I can not recommend this farm highly enough.

Dimitris, Martha, and both of their kids are absolutely wonderful people. They truly made me feel like a part of their family in such a short time.
The work on the farm is both tough and fulfilling. Be prepared to work at 6am and in exchange you will get to see beautiful sunrises, learn so much about organic farming/processing, get your hands in the dirt, and return back to the house for an amazing lunch leaving the rest of the day free.
Dimitris is incredibly openminded and accommodating. If you have new ideas for the farm he is more than happy to listen.
If you have a serious interest in farming I truly could not recommend this experience more. I am so happy to have had this time with the family, and I would love to come back.
P.S. If possible, renting a car is an amazing way to get around and explore nearby beaches and Mt. Olympus! I was able to see a lot of the area this way.

When I came at Martha's garden, it was a very particular year for the family, due to Covid pandemic but also to the recent birth of their baby girl ! At that time the family had a lot on their minds and didn't have so much time to share with me. They have a golden heart though and I really enjoyed the moments we spent together.
I really loved the location of the farm ! Dimitri gave me a bike that allowed me to explore the beautiful beaches that surround the place.
The work in the farm was good and the farm has an amazing potential that needs help from Wwoofers to develop !
The negative point was the accomodation because I was staying in the tent which was not suited for me for the length of my stay so make sure you have all the information about the accomodation before you go there.
Thank you for this stay !

Really sorry about the late response.
Luis is very fun to work with and a very good worker. Even though he is not a farmer that does not stop him from being a great help in any activity. We are very glad to meet him and it's so nice to consider you a friend. He is very nice to children.
Thanks for the time you spent with us

Very good place, very good people. The farm is great! I felt at home, had a really good time and also got to work hard and learn a lot about eco-farming. It was an intimate and fruitful experience and had a good laugh on the way. I recommend this place, a big appreciation towards the hosts!
