Agritourism Destination, Farm
South Aegean
Art Farm - Agroktima Marini is a multifunctional, innovating place, combining Art and Nature in a traditional way. Our concept is to bring people closer to their roots and discover the benefits that rural life has to offer. In our facilities take place music events, theatrical performances, social activities, seminars for children and adults, workshops, where the visitor can participate in the production of local products, that are sold in our small gift shop.
Art farm - Agroktima Marini wishes you a nice stay.
For now the garden is very small only 5 squared meters
Our production (fruit trees + veg garden) is used only for the restaurant of the farm
One person, Sotiris, lives at the farm. Colleagues are living in Kalamata.
Accomodation : The woofer will be hosted inside the Yurt and the Treehouse. The woofer will need to share the room with the other woofers that we will host if needed.
Board : We will provide the food of the volunteers. They will have breakfast every day and lunch will be commonly prepared in the open kitchen for all the workers and volunteers, a good way to communicate and share our experiences. For the dinner, the volunteers will have everything they need for preparing their own meal and they can cook in the common kitchen.
Types of tasks:
at the moment we prepare a new space for common living and enjoying the nature the "New Dream - Agroktima Marini"
The tasks at the New Dream are weeding and building new Yurt tents as well as Cob huts, taking care of the animals (dogs and chicken), taking care of the gardens and building small constructions with stone such as fences and small pathways.
We would like to host each wwoofer for about 2 or 3 weeks.
Other tasks:
Fruit and vegetable’s cultivation : our plan is to create a new small field with traditionnal vegetable and fruit in greece and aromatic plant. The volunteer can help us to make this idea real. The volunteer can also help us to prepare and fix the place for the summer time.
Organic methods: We plant vegetable in a traditional way. We harvest Carubs, Olives and Fruit from the Trees in the Farm and the nearby area depending on the harvesting period of the year.

Pros:
- Balanced work schedule
- Fun outings
- Lari and Fire (the dogs)
- Good facilities
Cons:
- Poor communication from the host
- Disrespect
- The work didn't match the description
- Radio blaring at full volume 24 hours a day
It wasn’t a 100% a bad experience, nor was it a good one.
It rained heavily for the first three days, and Sotiris took me and the other volunteer in at his apartment in Kalamata. He said there was no way to work or stay at “New Dream” in the rain (even though we offered to work). However, what we weren’t told was that these were going to be my first “days off” and that in order to have the next few days off, I would have to work 10 days in a row.
However, communicating with Sotiris was, for the most part, quite complicated. He listened to the radio at full volume 24 hours a day, and everyone else was forced to listen too. Sometimes the language barrier made communication difficult, but the main problem I had was with his temper, which cut my stay in half. Most of the time, he expected us to guess what he was thinking, and when we didn’t, he’d get frustrated. He acted all the time as if he were doing us a favor by hosting us, when in reality it’s a two-way exchange. Sometimes when I or another volunteer would ask him something or just check to see if we were doing the task right, he’d lose his patience and get snappy. His justification was that he spoke with “passion,” but in reality, it was a lack of respect (and I’m in a position to speak...

We had an amazing time staying with Sotiris for about 3 weeks. Sotiris was amazing, we learned so many things such as how to make concrete and build walls. He taught us about the Greek way of life, with long lunches, lots of visits to the beach and celebrating the national celebrations. The farm was beautiful and so was the beach! We would definitely recommend to stay at new dream!

I had an amazing stay at Sotiris´ place "New-dream" together with a few other volunteers. Our daily tasks varied from day to day and included everything from building concrete stairs, to cut bamboo and use it cover the roofs. Besides from the daily tasks, we spent a lot of time at the beach and in the beautiful surroundings nearby.
Sotiris is an incredible host with a big heart and a great talent for story-telling. He showed us around in Kalamata and taught me so much about cooking, building, and life in general. I would 100 % go there again if I got the chance and cannot recommend it highly enough.

Staying at Sotiris’ “New Dream” near Kalamata was a life-changing experience. Even though the place is still being built, it already feels like a piece of magic. I came as a volunteer to help build the project, but I feel I received more than I gave.
Sotiris welcomed us with incredible hospitality , like a wise and joyful grandfather. He cooked for us, shared stories, and gave us a place to sleep among nature in beautiful tree houses and yurts.
From him, I learned the power of kindness, patience, and building dreams step by step. A truly inspiring human being.

Me and my fiends had a heartwarming stay at Sotiris' farm. It was a life-time experience for us and we truly felt like home with Sotiris. We could be a part of his life for these 10 days we spent at New Dream. Lots of laughter, long evenings filled with stories from the past from his full, rich life, many new skills we learned during our work ( such as making concrete!) and a lot of passionate friends of his we could meet. He's such a unique and inspiring man full of freedom, passion and love.

We stayed for 10 days with Sotiris and helped to build his "New Dream". From the moment we arrived, we felt welcome. Sotiris lives in Kalamata and was also hosting two other volunteers in his apartment. We stayed in our van and met at "New Dream" around 10 a.m. each day.
We helped with various projects, including the chicken house, bathroom, and the roof and floor of the outdoor kitchen area. Around 3 or 4 p.m., we started cooking together and spent the rest of the day enjoying amazing Greek dishes.
We learned a lot about the Greek way of life, local traditions, Sotiris' life, and sustainable building. Every day was different and truly enjoyable.
Ευχαριστώ πολύ Sotiris, for this experience and your hospitality. We’ll definitely come back! 🤗
