Family home and garden - rural
South Aegean
We are a small homestead with gardens and animals with a surface of 3.000 square meters. We cultivate fruit (about 25 trees: orange, mandarine, apple, almond, olive, etc), and vegetables. We have a lot of chicken (about 80) as well as a few cats (7) and dogs (3) running around. Other than that we try to produce a few organic products such as tomato sauce, dried tomatoes, and figs and make our own olives.
Our family constitutes of 2 persons.
Accommodation:
One small room (separate from the house) with a bathroom (shower) and hot water. The bedroom has 2 single beds. There's a very simple outdoor kitchen with a gas stove top where you can prepare breakfast.
We don't live luxuriously as we prefer a simple life close to nature and the sea.
Board:
We will cook for the volunteers every day 1 meal (which we will eat for lunch and dinner )
with our own vegetables, eggs, fruit, dairy products, meat, and fish (my husband is a fisherman). Food for breakfast is also provided. If you are vegan, you have to get your own special products, if you need any. On your days off you there's always stuff for you to eat breakfast but lunch and dinner is not provided.
Τypes of volunteers' tasks:
- Fruit & vegetable cultivation: garden and tree care, weeding, watering (especially in the summer),
- Animal care: feeding our animals (chicken, dogs, and cats), occasionally walking the dogs.
- Other: painting, maintenance work and cleaning.
A drivers licence would be nice.
Months Needed: All year round
Languages Spoken: Greek, German, French, and English
Can Accommodate Children: No
Accept pets: No
Further information:
We would like our volunteers to be at least 21 years old.
We can not to host more than 2 volunteers at the same time due to lack of space.
Everybody even without any experience but with the right work ethic and willingness to learn is welcome.
Organic methods:
We use chicken manure, donkey manure, and nettle lye as fertilizer for our plants and trees. Although we burn branches, leaves, and weeds and use the ashes as well for this.
We use the nettle lye to spray it on trees and vegetables as protection against vermin.
Certifications: We use our products for ourselves and don't sell them. That's why we don't need a certification.
Internet access is available only during the day.
I would like to state that one of the main reasons I am registered here is my profound interest to meet people and cultural exchange. If you are looking for an easy vacation please don't apply. Otherwise ask to meet our cat Sinefoula. We are excited to get to know you.

The airport is only about 3km away from us and we will pick you up when you arrive. The next bus station is in Monolithos. To get there, you have to walk 1km along the beach. In case you arrive by boat, you have to get the local bus .

I left Daniele’s place after one week, although I was initially supposed to stay for a month.
This experience was very difficult and did not respect the spirit or values of WWOOFing.
There was no real exchange, learning, or shared daily life. I stayed alone in a small room downstairs, separate from the main house. Daniele refused my help with cooking and doing the dishes, and I worked alone all day without interaction with either Daniele or Panos.
The experience was strongly focused on tracking hours of work, which made me feel like a worker rather than a WWOOFer. The sense of mutual trust, collaboration, and hospitality that WWOOF is based on was clearly missing.
After I explained that I would not do the dishes following Panos’ cooking, Daniele became upset and began questioning my working hours. I felt distrusted despite completing my tasks with honesty and good intentions. This lack of trust was particularly hurtful.
From the beginning, Daniele and I both felt that something was not quite right. In hindsight, we should have listened to that feeling earlier.

We had a wonderful time at Danièle and Panos’ place! They were so welcoming, and we truly loved our stay there. We stayed there 2 weeks and it went by so fast.
We helped with gardening, taking care of the chickens, picking olives, cleaning pomegranates, and even got to help with Panos’ fishing nets. We were surrounded by lovely cats and dogs — we honestly wished we could have brought them all home with us!
Danièle took such great care of us and shared her best recipes, which we can’t wait to try again when we get back home. We also learned so much about Santorini and Greek culture.
The beach was really close to the house, so we could spend our afternoons swimming in the sea.🌊
There is also a very nice taverna about 15minutes by walk from the house and a small marketplace.
Fira is about an hour’s walk away, or you can take a bus there (3 in the mornings and 3 in the afternoon)
Thank you again for having us — we’re so grateful ! ☀️

Had a great time with Daniele and Panos for 2 weeks, really kind persons. The beach nearby is really a plus in a day of work and you can go everyday really easily. The food is really good and from vegetables of the garden.

Wow! What a wonderful and blissful 2 weeks at Daniele’s home. Not only was the accommodation cosy and the food absolutely amazing, but the company made me feel instantly at home. Daniele makes you feel incredibly welcome within the space and explains all of the tasks very well. She is very open to you asking questions about all sorts of topics from the task to the land to the island and makes you feel comfortable to come with your own ideas. The tasks were well varied, I enjoyed cleaning pomegranates, feeding the chickens, watering her beautiful garden and weeding, and the 5 hour working day was great! I can’t recommend this opportunity enough.
