My girlfriend and I spent 14 days volunteering through WWOOF on South Crete, and it was a very positive experience overall. The place is located in a small, charming mountain community surrounded by incredibly beautiful landscapes. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcome. We were greeted by members of the community who showed us around and helped us settle into a comfortable, slightly “luxury-style” caravan where we stayed during our time there. The work was flexible, which we really appreciated. We could choose to work in the mornings or afternoons, leaving time to explore the area or go for a swim. Christian, the host, was kind and open-minded, with a variety of different projects to get involved in. This meant you could contribute in ways that suited your interests and skills, which made the experience feel more personal and engaging. The setting itself is peaceful and very scenic, and the overall atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. It’s worth noting that the facilities are somewhat basic, so it helps to be comfortable with a more simple, rustic lifestyle. For us, that was part of the charm. All in all, it was a really enjoyable and memorable stay, and we would recommend it to anyone looking for a flexible, nature-based volunteering experience in a beautiful part of Crete.

No words do a justice. This is all i could think to say… The Hangman’s Tree?…. Under the Linden’s lacy branches Where the roosters bicker in early light The sun slowly illuminates the grove Polka-dotted with bright rounds of citrus On the grassy steps of the valley Adolescent vines bud in rows By Andreas’ careful hand and quick quips Giggling upwards they stem unswerving Then there is Foris deep in the spinney Wrestling brushes and brambles Clearing the thick from the thicket Revealing bright flowers or maybe a relic Through all the hills The voice of Moha echoes and bounds Calling for Bruno Who cannot be found Then there is Lisa, seemingly new Knelt in the patch Laughing with the bees and the beetles Who seem to all know her, all but a few The bounty of harvest Climbs to the crest Where Eleni measures and refines A crystalline drop of summertime’s best While Lida ribs beside her Ringing and chiming with all of the town Spreading word round the isle But still an eye on the oven Which hosts a platter of smiles When the sun burns the hottest We gather around for a drink Trading stories and fables Thru’ burning tobacco-whispering smoke As the day drips to dark I slip into shelter The wind trading us places on the next shift In this cottage hugged by a stone Hearing scops chirp amidst the airy drone A group full of misfits if off on their own But rather shrewdly accounted for Gathered under a warm, downy wing Of the endlessly graceful and kind Nulifer Who seems ...

My stay with Stéphane was a real gift! I love the remote location, off grid on this beautiful land. I felt at home right from the start and really got immersed in the eco farm life. Each day there was something else to do ranging from planting tomato seedlings in the greenhouse to bigger plants in the field, helping with building a dry wall or getting all the cutted wood sorted. Stéphane and I worked mostly together, so he shared lots of his knowledge and insights which was very beneficial. I learnt to play Belote and we went kayaking and climbing on Thassos. The cabin in which I stayed, was cozy and eating fresh food from the garden each day made me appreciate it so much more. This place stands out and Stéphane is the heart of it!

This is my futile attempt to capture my stay at Landinos Vineyard. A Puttering Poem: Amongst the towering granite boulders And winding terraces organizing sandy soil Marching grapevines begin to bud And a modest stone house sits hidden The icy north wind slams the cottage Rhythmically like waves It holds strong and quiet as a reef below Here, i sit hidden too At the worn wooden table Feet chilled by the cool floor But cozy under dim lights Warmed by wholesome food in my belly Staring blankly but not in a daze Enthralled in thought; more a gaze. Tales of gods, stars, and ancient vibrations Send my mind into flight But the rest is aligning The feeling is light But still tuned for a fight Eager to rise with the sun And work on the earth, drenched in sweat And quietly watch as: Foris calculates & executes his next intention While With the touch of a velvet hand… Thalia loses herself tenderly pruning her vines And Daisy, we mustn’t forget Daisy, Trots and ducks and wiggles Searching every crack, nook, and tangle. Then we sit round again Sipping a potamisi nectar Steaming plates set before us Breathing stories to each other With Thalia, Daisy, and Foris. And because even that doesn't seem to be enough...a thought for each of you: Thalia Crouched in a sea of wildflowers. A gentle breath rises from out of sight. The soft sighs of complete contentment with her surroundings while she works. Like an airy spell being muttered. Steadily enshrouding and nourishing young buddin...

If you have the chance to go to Kosta Rica, don't miss it. I spent 1 month there and it is hard to describe in a few words what was such an incredible, human, awakening experience. Kostas and Chara are two unique souls. I learnt a lot about permaculture with Kostas who knows so much and is so involved in teaching. You will live in a house where you will have everything you need. Kostas makes sure that you miss nothing. You can experience an unique time in the beautiful nature of Lefkada, having a simple, healthy and contemplative life. And if you're as lucky as I was, you will be with an amazing roommate. I really hope to come back soon. Thank you Kostas and Chara !!

A lovely place with a lovely people. George, the manager of the farm, is a wonderful man – kind, nice, patient, helpful. He truly cares about the nature and know a lot about it. The farm itself is full of trees, bushes and flowers, and is a perfect spot for a few weeks of a manual labour relaxation. Even though the place is kinda secluded, you can get from there to a supermarket or a beach in a few minutes of cycling. I loved it there, and you will too.

We liked it so much here that we spent more time than initially expected ! Mali Veni is a great farm, with a beautiful diversity of productions, a great location, and a great farmer. The work was very diverse : we picked fruits and vegetales everyday depending on the daily orders (artichokes, beans, lemons...), prepared beds for seeding (weeding, spreading compost...), planted tomatoes and zucchinis. George is so nice, and a great person to work with. Even though he has so much to do, he always took time to explain us a lot of thing about the farm, the agroecological principles, and the reasons why we did every task. The working hours were very clear, and allowed us to have real spare time to go swimming (the sea is at a 1h walking distance), hiking, biking (there are two bikes available on the farm for the wwoofers), or juste resting in the hammock ;) The farm is located in a beautiful area. It is reachable by subway+bus+walk from Athens (2h), and the place is very quiet. There are beautiful wild areas to explore around, and a town within walking distance. The farm itself is beautiful, with a lot of fruit trees, a nice calm and natural area around the volunteer's house. The house has all the basic needs : a shared dormitory with a kitchen and a bathroom. We never lacked of anything : George provided the things we needed from the store, and we could enjoy fresh fruits, vegetables and eggs from the farm. We recommend this wwoofing a 100%. Thanks again for everything !

The month I spent at this farm was a gift. I shared the everyday life of a generous, joyful, lively and inspiring family, who passed on to me their wisdom on how to stay connected both with nature (and its energies) and to one another. Even though I lived alone in a caravan (a lovely little home where I had everything I needed), Stefanos’ and Loukia’s door was always open, whether it was to spend some nice time with them or simply relax indoors with Ricky (the dog) and their cats. I mainly helped them in the vineyards, weeding whilst they pruned the vines, as that was the main task at that time of year. Their vineyards are set in a beautiful location, nestled between the mountains and the sea - a peaceful and meditative work environment. I also helped with bottling the olive oil and preparing the vegetable garden for the coming season. I really enjoyed working with them and always felt at ease. But what I hadn’t expected when I arrived at the farm was the people I would meet there: I was so kindly invited to get-togethers with friends, music sessions with wonderful musicians (if you play an instrument, do bring it along!) and Greek celebrations, including Orthodox Easter, which I’ll never forget – there was so much joy and togetherness. I feel deeply grateful for the bonds that have been formed and which will stay with me for a long time to come. Leaving this farm was very hard. But it helps to think about the next time I’ll be back! Στεφάνε και Λουκία, ευχαριστώ για όλα!

My stay at "Kosta Rica" was truly wonderful. Even for two weeks I already learned and enjoyed it a lot. The farm is vibrant and inspiring. Kostas has a wealth of knowledge about permaculture, seeds, and plants, as well as inspiring and compassionate insights on life, community building and the world. The little house has everything you need. It’s basic and helps you slow down your daily routine. (a power bank/battery is a plus if you need). The work always involves learning something new, and there’s plenty of time left over to relax or to visit Lefkada or other places (by rental bike or hitchhiking). Chara and Kostas are very kind and hospitable and their thoughts and wisdom are truly amazing. Thank you for the time!

Our stay was absolutely wonderful. Dylan and his family were over the top accommodating and generous in every way, from hosting us comfortably, feeding us, and even taking us to the village when we needed things. They made us feel immediately at home. The days we spent with them were very enriching in terms of what we learned from their admirable lifestyle choices and natural farming methods. It was fascinating to learn how they make their olive oil and wine, which are true elixirs. The meals were incredibly delicious, made with strictly organic, whole-food, plant-based ingredients. We highly enjoyed helping them set up their garden beds, cooking, maintaining the trees and vines around the property, and fixing fences along other simple tasks. We loved being a part of their blossoming project and found it to be very inspiring. The surroundings are stunningly beautiful and if anyone appreciates simple, down to earth living, and being in the company of kind hearted people, they will have a wonderful time. Thank you so, so much for everything! <3 We can’t wait to be back someday
